210/365 yellow

Blue has always been my favorite color. Even when I was a little girl. But, yellow has always come a close second. Maybe because it's so bright and lifts your spirits. Not to mention that blue and yellow compliment each other.

I'm posting this early because tonight I'm in a movie trivia contest with my work against a competing video store. I'll be up on stage answering all the questions wrong. Or answering any question about Willow correctly. Hopefully they will give us a fantasy film topic. Or Terry Gilliam. I can answer most any question about those right. Sigh. Wish us luck! We are the reigning champions as of this last year, tonight we see if we can hold on to it.

Orange. オレンジ。Anaranjado. chéng.

208/365 Red

I think I'm gonna try out my color scheme again. I wasn't intentionally doing a color scheme before, but I think now I will. This time I'm going to try to keep them all similar in how they look. All but the color will be desaturated. So here is red. Next, orange.

206/365 Spring is almost here

I love it when the weather is like this. The air is cool but the sun warms you up. It's beautiful outside. I wish it would stay this way for more than 1 month. That's all I get of this type of weather in Texas. Next, it's just hot. And stays that way.

205/365

There is an emulation challenge in a Flickr group called My face is my canvas. The challenge is to use geometric shapes on the face. So, I found a picture of African children with this design on their face. So, it's my contribution to that group challenge this week. It came out to be a strange, but an interesting interpretation. 204/365 Distorted Beauty

What is considered beautiful these days? You take a look back 60 years and a woman with curves was considered beautiful. Today, it's the pin thin emaciated look. Why? How did the evolution of beauty become this? I can't understand it. texture by playing with brushes.

203/365 Blech

Least effort ever. I'm so not feeling it today and the effort I put into this is laughable. It's also late. Shows how "on it" I am today.

202/365 Falling

I can't believe I'm past 200 photos now. I'm looking back on the first few and see how far I've come. I definitely know how to layer things now. That's for sure.
I took this photo balancing on a stool. It took all of my ab muscles to not fall off. It also took a lot to keep my upper body and lower body in position. So, by the end of the photos, my stomach hurt pretty badly.
Another day has gone by and the next is soon to come. It seems days fly by lately. It's rather weird. As a kid things seemed to take forever. Once I hit 21, it's been a non-stop ride.

Kaya got a much needed bath, haircut, and toenail trim today. Let's just say she wasn't too happy with me the rest of the day.

200/365 Another day devoted to Musing

This was taken when we went to see Thurston Moore earlier on in the day. I didn't plan to do any SXSW stuff, but somehow it happened.

This is late. I know. Today has been nutso. I had the plan of seeing Muse tonight at Stubb's, but I was to be  on the grassy knoll across the venue. Only badges were allowed in and so I had to opt for the uber-fan-listening-from-outside-the-venue spot. Well, that was all good. But, before the show, I waited outside the side entrance with a gaggle of other retarded girls. And here came Dom (drummer) sauntering down the walkway. He didn't stop to say hi, just a simple wave. Whatever. Then Matt (singer) came out as well.
He was the sweetest. He stopped going down the runway and turned around and told his bodyguard to come to us. So, as kind as he was to stop and take some photos and sign some girls stuff, I was pushed and pulled to the point that getting a picture with him was cut off. He was literally a foot away from me and then he said "Okay, no more. Thanks." So, I didn't get anything signed or get a picture with him. All I got was a picture OF him. Oh well. That's as close as I'm going to be ever to that guy in my life. Better that than nothing!

The thing that made my night was at the end of the show, Chris (bassist) came out the side entrance to leave. He kindly came up and also did what Matt had done. I was again pushed and pulled by a million people, but I put my hand out and he looked me straight in the eye, smiled, and shook it. Yeah.
That made my night. He was kind enough to give me an actual smile and a shake of the hand. It may sound stupid to others, but being as huge as they are, the fact Matt and Chris took the time out to greet some of their fans meant a lot. Dom on the other hand I've had the feeling for quite some time that he may be the one that has the big rock star ego. I dunno. I can be completely wrong. I should stop contemplating this over people I don't know. I guess it just leaves an impression when 2 of the band members go out of their way to greet and be sweet to their fans.

I really love Muse. Another night devoted to my favorite band and I'm happy I did. I got to see all three up close and personal and even say hello and shake their hands.

199/365 Muser

Saw my second arena Muse show. All I can say is "......." Speechless. They just keep reinforcing that they are a force to be reckoned with and there is a reason I love this band.
I have seen the last two tours now. What I woudn't give to go back in time and see the Absolution tour. I was turned onto Muse around 2001 or so. I have been following them since and once Showbiz was in my hands, I was hooked.
This is my favorite band and this is my dedication.

198/365 Lost

Yes, I am an entire day early to posting this. But, looking at my next two days, I won't have time for any picture taking. So, I had to do both my pictures today. One for The Fall and one for just a general 365.
Tomorrow I have to work a double shift. Then I come home, go to sleep, get up, and then head to Dallas to see Muse with my brother. I think they are going to be a secret show during SXSW as well. But, I'm going to go see them in their full stage production set. If they play, I can't imagine the Austin Music Hall or Stubb's being the full visual show. Either way, I'm looking forward to Wednesday night.
Tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to so much.
I should probably go get some sleep. I'm hoping I go into work tomorrow and not have to see a particular face. If I do, then things in the store are going to be pretty quiet.

197/365 The Fall

This is very much an abstraction of one of my favorite films, Tarsem's The Fall. He ties together so many elements that just create this immaculate landscape of beauty. He creates images like i've never seen before. The film isn't scared to use color. It's not afraid to use objects and abstraction of forms to represent it's ideas and how to tell the story. It crosses the real world with a dream-like world that has an amazing landscape.
The characters are fantastic. The little girl in the film, I personally believe, is not acting. She truly seems to be the little girl that is her character. (I don't know if that makes sense) But, basically this film takes so many things that I love and pulls it together with a heart wrenching story. Tarsem is not afraid of art. Or abstraction of art in this film. It's simply a gorgeous feast for the eyes. So, my picture is just a
representation or take on the film. I did include the butterfly and flower to create a face similar to the one in the poster. In my own way.
I've also noticed a common theme with me and my favorite movies. They have amazing scores/soundtracks. I fall in love not only with the storytelling, visuals, and characters, but I also fall in love with the music. Perfume and Willow are by far my favorite film soundtracks. But, all my favorite films have these emotional or just simply addictive soundtracks. The Fall has an incredible score as well.
I love this movie.

Same shoot from earlier yesterday. I liked this shot too much to not use it in my 365, hence the wig. I have to give props to my other set of hands, Stephen. He shot this and it turned out beautifully.
