I took my brother around today to get a lot of business done for his sake. So, while trying to find a place to get his hair cut, we found a small Japanese restaurant called Odaku Sushi in a strip mall. Surprisingly, everything about it was very authentic. They even had a portion of the restaurant set up in the way they are in Japan. Our food was incredible and too much for our stomachs. My dinner came with the many sides and special things that they give to you in Japan that never is given in bigger or more mainstream Japanese restaurants. The music was J-pop and the waitress and the Sushi chef were both Japanese. It just felt like a complete get-a-way in the middle of stip mall hell. But, wow. It was incredible.
One funny thing though was that there was a very small portion of Korean food on the menu. Hence the korean sign behind me. I guess were over on the "korean" side? I should have taken a picture of the other side of the restaurant.

This one is gonna be strange for most everyone. But, it's inspired by some old photos my dad had in one of his photography books of people caked in mud and making simple expressions. It left an impression and since I don't have mud, I experimented with flour. It's one of my odd ones, but it came out just the way I wanted.

This one also has a backstory. My friend Rockie and I both have this natural tendency for our brows to furrow. When we were discussing it one day, he told me it's called crunchy brow. Crunchy Brow tends to make you look pissed off, but you just aren't. Sometimes, mine is caused by concentration or just the sun in my eyes. But, I couldn't stop giggling at the phrase "Crunchy Brow." So, this is dedicated to my crunchy brow bro, Rockie.

This is a costume I would die to have. How awesome would it be to be Vigo the Carpathian???! Ah, halloween gives me these grand wonderful ideas for costumes, but they are so intricate that it would take the entire year to create. I should start on costumes right after halloween for the next coming spookfestacular. sigh.
Danica. The Carpathian.

I have a strange love for neat socks. I like socks that are not typical white snoozefests. I've got quite a collection of some neat ones. My grandma even goes and buys me socks from whatever place they are vacationing at that time. So, I have some Alaska socks and googly eyed cow socks. You never see them though because I'm always wearing pants. These are one of my favorite pair. They are great for a really cold day or anytime I need to wear my calf high boots.

This one has a backstory. One night at Vulcan, my coworker Jared and I were on a Mel Gibson kick. We somehow decided to imitate one photo with my horrible camera phone. It ended up being just a lot of fun and a silly night at work. Jared just recently left a message that basically dared me to recreate the photo. I tried. But, jeez. With photobooth, it doesn't help that I don't have a professional camera to see what pose I'm in. I have to get it just so, that I need to see where my limbs are at. So, photobooth helped. But, I still can't recreate the magic that is the original Mel picture. For one thing, I don't have grease and dirt and his rugged good looks. Ah, Mel.

It's meal time at midnight here at Casa Huff. We're making vegan spaghetti which is always extremely good. I ate some really horrible vegetable tacos with queso earlier that either are making me feel ill, or I'm becoming ill. I can't figure that out quite yet.
We are going to watch "9" while devouring the good stuff and hopefully the movie and my stomach will both be good. Otherwise, I might be going to the doctor after I take my dog to her doctor tomorrow. Ah, the exciting life I lead.

So, my original idea was to do a "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" set on the couch. But, when I got to thinking about it, I realized that it's overdone and kinda cliche. So, I decided to think of three things either I've never done or I just simply don't do.
So, here they are in all their glory. I'm not much of a drinker. I don't and have never smoked. I am not slutty and I don't think I can ever be capable of it. This was just a fun one to do. The slutty me is nasty. heeheee.

Proof of my doings at Fantastic Fest
I am behind the camera for this. I am filming this. I am so freakin' happy I got to do this:
I was the last one to get to ask a question to Jermaine Clement in character as Dr. Ronald Chevalier. I asked "What do you think of people who talk during movies?" and he responded just as I thought he would. It's a fun clip and I am all the way to the end. weeeeeeee.

I tried to make this as hyper color and almost dreamlike as possible. I haven't messed with filters much, so I played around with those tonight. Sorry if the picture is kinda a weak one. I am still trying my hardest to learn things. Also, not having your tripod with you makes taking these photos extremely hard. Or even having a human tripod around...

The last thing I thought that would happen today was that I would meet Dolph Lundgren. But, holy crap, that's exactly what happened. The little child that watched nothing but he-man and she-ra cartoons was screaming "It's He-Man! It's He-Man!" the entire time. I just waited while a bunch of dudes took pictures with him, which he graciously continued to do, and then it was my opportunity to jump in. I was the only girl there getting a picture with the guy and so I kinda just blurted that out. "Geez, I'm the only chick here." Word vomit. But, Dolph seemed to take it as something funny and responded "I know! We need more of them over here!" or something along those lines.
I'm glad this week is over. It's been fun but a huge headache with how the system and organization of it is run. That was the most intense festival I have ever worked.
So, I saw in no particular order:
Gentlemen Broncos
Zombieland
Trick r' Treat
Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassuss
A Serious Man
Universal Soldier: A new beginning
Daybreakers
Down Terrace
Stingray Sam
Dread
Human Centipede
Metropia
I should have seen more, but I also am a working girl. I got to see quite a good batch though and I got to film Mike White and Sam Rockwell up close and personal for the Alamo "don't talk" segment. Quite a happy time. But, extremely tired. Now I work for the next 6 days in a row. FUN!
